Let's Go Fly A Kite!!!

We had a great time yesterday! The wind was perfect, the temperature was much better than earlier in the week, and the sun was out making the sky a beautiful blue!

We went to the same park we went to on Monday. Gideon had a great time flying his kite and playing with the kids on the castle area.

Just stick out your tongue just a little bit more for concentration!

Sorry for the shakiness. It was really windy! :)

We've Got A Heartbeat, Houston!

Well, I am much more at ease tonight. I had the ultrasound and the baby is measuring fine and the heartbeat is good at 124 bpm. Yeah! I am still having "issues", so please continue to pray for the pregnancy and of course Baby Sutherland Number 2. God has definitely been interceding this past week due to the prayers of many faithful. Thank you so very much!

He or she is a small little thing right now! I haven't had an u/s this early before but I promise that I saw that little heartbeat radiating during the procedure.

Well, we had another eventful day! We got a call from Nicholas's family again and they wanted to know if Gideon and I wanted to meet them at Chuck E. Cheese's for lunch.

We ate!

We performed!

We posed!

But Most Importantly, We Played Air Hockey!

What a Great Day! Two Happy and Healthy Kids!

Yikes! What a Week!

Sorry, I haven't posted in a while. Well, at least anything substantial. It has been a rollercoaster of a week. I have been having "issues" and I am not sure what the outcome will be of my pregnancy right now. I am waiting for an ultrasound that will occur this Tuesday evening at 5:45 p.m. I hopefully will have some good news to tell you then. I have had an exam last Thursday, blood-work on Friday and today and off an on whooziness and discomfort (the latter could be chocked up to regular pregnancy symptoms, but we shall see!)

Gideon and I had a great first official day of Spring Break together. We met up with a friend from church, Nicholas, and his family at a local park. With windchill it was a pretty brisk day. My hands and face were about ready to fall off after standing and watching them play for about two hours, but they had a great time! Hopefully we will be getting together with them again sometime this week.

I found a great church skit today on Godtube. I thought I would share it! Made me cry, but that isn't hard to do. Just ask my mom about my reaction to most hallmark card commercials. I thought it was going to be a run-of-the-mill skit, but it is so much more! Great message!

We would have been in Louisville this week, but due to medical issues, we will have to postpone that till this summer. Hopefully we could stay a few weeks in July or something. It sure would be nice.

Here are some pictures from today!

Update About Nephew

Thanks so much for the prayers for little Brooks. It appears that the infection is subsiding. He did have to have a procedure that evening at the hospital, but the doctor feels that it should heal fine on its own now. I think Meaghan and Joseph are definitely more at peace with the situation now. Praise the Lord for miracles big and small!

Outreach in Lakewood

Unfortunately, as in any place in the world, there are those who are less fortunate than us, whether by loss of job, addiction, physical infirmity, or by unwise decisions. We have the poor and afflicted around us all the time. There is no difference in the Lakewood area. Yesterday. we went as a family on our church outreach. It was so exciting to see Gideon's enthusiasm at knocking on doors to bring the love of Christ and the hope of salvation to different people. It was also amazing to see his broken heart when he didn't get an opportunity to pray out loud like the adults before we left. It was a lesson to his father. Take the time to listen to the little ones. He is able to mold and shape their faith at such an early age and it should be a lesson to us all. We also were able to see a a new brother come into our family. Domingo, a gentleman from Lima, Peru, came to know our Lord and Savior yesterday. Praise to God for claiming one of his own. More exciting was the fact that from this ministry a new vision is begging to be cast in the form of TESOL (Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages) classes in several of the Hispanic apartment complexes around Lakewood. This area is so unique from the large Hasidic community and the Hispanic community that works for them. The culture variations blow your mind. We are beginning to see why God brought us here. If we can minister here. we can minister anywhere. Please continue to pray for us as we reach out to our neighbors and strangers, and that God would give us wisdom and the expertise as we endeavor to start TESOL classes. We love you all.

Ken, Trina, and Gideon.

Pray for Little Nephew!!!

Please be praying for little Brooks. He is at Kosair Children's Hospital tonight. He has a severe infection of his circumcision and it looks like there might need to be corrective surgery done. Please pray that the infection reverse, that Brooks will be protected and healed, guidance for the doctors, and of course peace and comfort for Joseph and Meaghan! We love you guys!

Whats Up With RVA

In the midst of our exciting news this week we have several questions about our plans for RVA . The plans have not changed just the timing. We are still pursuing this option just for the year after the addition to our family. We still covet your prayers for this change and look forward to seeing how God will use our expanded family to serve His purposes. New date puts us out to 08/09

2 Weeks Old Today!

Now, if you are coming to this site because of my exciting announcement you'll need to go down one post.

I finally was able to obtain some photos of our latest addition to the Sutherland family, Brooks Turner Sutherland, Joseph and Meaghan's new little baby boy!

Okay, to me, he looks like a spitting image of Conner's newborn pictures.

Well, Brooks, enjoy being the baby of the family for the next 9 months, because you'll have to give the stage to your newest cousin in November! :)

Have fun with your Grandma Kelly from California the next couple of weeks, Brooks and Conner!

Getting Ready for Jayshawn's Birthday

We had a fun day today! We went to a pirate-theme birthday party. You will see the progression of our day as you look through the different posts of pictures. Gideon had a swashbuckling time! Jayshawn, the birthday boy, is pictured further down in the photos. He is the one with the darker complexion, holding the sword in front of his face.

His mother, Tiffany, and I had an opportunity to talk today and I think we will be getting together more frequently with the boys for spring break and over the summer vacation. That will definitely be good for Gideon. He needs someone his age to play with. Mommy and Daddy just aren't cutting it lately! :(

Kenny was going to go to an church outreach today for the Hispanic community in Lakewood today, but woke up with an awful ear infection. He went to the emergency care clinic at 8 a.m. and came home with a prescription. He is not looking forward to his airplane trip tomorrow from Newark to St. Louis, Mo. He has a business in Springfield, Mo. of all places this week! That is the town of my alma mater, Evangel College, now University. Maybe he can look up some of my favorite profs while he is there and say hey.

Brooks Turner Sutherland was born this week to Kenny's brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Meaghan!!!! We are so excited to welcome him into the family! As soon as we get some photos we will make sure to share them with you. Please be praying for Brooks and family though; he is jaundice and has to be under the take-home lights for awhile and that can be hard on all involved.

Tomorrow is Dr. Seuss Day! I am going to celebrate with my class sometime this week. If any of you have some creative ideas for that day, please email me. Thanks so much!

Oh by the way, a few weeks ago I inquired if any of you knew what a rammocka was. My mom took some good guesses with harmonica and something else...I can't quite recall. Well the correct answer is.... a maraca! Cha, cha, cha!
